Rotary originally started in 1905 as a business referral club. However, not long after it's inception, the founders quickly realized that they needed to serve their community rather than themselves. And so Rotary became America's first service club. Unfortunately, it still has a reputation of being a club for high-brow business men. The truth is, anyone over the age of 18 can join Rotary. However, there are some things to consider when deciding to join Rotary.
The first is money. There is a fee for joining Rotary and individuals must make sure they can afford these fees. Rotary Clubs usually offer the options of paying monthly, quarterly, semi-annually, or annually. The Rotary Club of Mesquite offers all the possibilities with the ability to bill an employer if the employer wishes to pay for its employee to join. Our club's dues are $50 a month which includes your International dues, District dues, your subscription to the monthly magazine published by Rotary International, The Rotarian Magazine, and also includes your lunch at the weekly meetings.
The second thing to consider is time. Our club meets every Tuesday at noon. While we do understand that emergencies and life in general can prevent you from making every meeting, we do have a very high expectation for attendance. Our club has maintained the highest attendance percentage in our district every year since we chartered in 2007. We are very proud of this record and attribute a lot of our success as a club to the fact that our members are dedicated to attending the meetings every week. By attending the weekly meetings, Rotarians are up to date on what is going on in the club and are actively involved in our projects. There are ways to make up meetings that you may miss and it is quite easy to maintain 100% attendance, but it takes dedication and desire to do so.
Thank you for your interest in joining our club. The fact that you have read this far shows that you might be a candidate for admission to Rotary.
